My New Year’s Resolution is to stop making racist/sexist/…ist jokes, because even if they can be “harmless” and funny, they are still perpetuating racism/sexism/..ism.

Person Of The Year of the Day: TIME picks “The Protester” as its Person of the Year for 2011.

No one could have known that when a Tunisian fruit vendor set himself on fire in a public square, it would incite protests that would topple dictators and start a global wave of dissent. In 2011, protesters didn’t just voice their complaints; they changed the world.

Runners-Up: Admiral William McRaven; Ai Weiwei; Rep. Paul Ryan; Kate Middleton.

As a good-natured skeptic, I have to comment on this. It simply isn’t true. If you read any sources on Horus that aren’t specifically trying to draw parallels to Jesus, you’ll find that nearly all these claims are simply false. Or, sources validating the comparisons come only after the New Testament was written, indicating that Horus myths adopted these ideas from the New Testament, not the other way around.
There are plenty of arguments against Jesus and Christianity, but this is not one of them.

Thank you so much for saying this. There are so many atheists that will just gobble up anything that is against christianity without doing some background research. This chart is unfortunately largely perpetuated by the Zeitgeist Movie, which is mostly untrue claims of similarity between Horus and Jesus.

When my dad was a kid (in the 50’s) he tried to get a drink from the water fountain labeled “colored” because he wanted to drink the colored water.

Our media really does fuck with things way to much. It’s so sad that everyone just eats it up too.

Industrial designer Andrew Kim has created a new Coke bottle concept that could significantly change the sodamaker’s footprint. For every 4 bottles currently shipped, the square bottle design could ship 6. This means every shipping container could hold 4,000 more bottles of Coke. Kim also considered that Americans use 2 million plastic bottles every 5 minutes, so he made the bottle itself green. It is  100% plant based, made entirely from sugar cane byproducts. Which is amusing since Coke hasn’t been made from sugar since 1985 (via Jerry James Stone)

this looks so fucking cool please use this design

Brazil has coke with real sugar in it :D
